This seminar will consider the much-discussed issue of impartiality in police work, drawing a careful distinction between explicit and implicit biases. Participants will learn about social and structural factors which serve to complicate race relations in our society, especially the interaction between law enforcement and minority groups. The overarching goal is to gain a better understanding of recent historic events, to study their impact on the present and future of American policing, and think constructively about how police agencies should respond.
This seminar will be presented on 3 different days and locations:
November 30th – Chillicothe Fire Department
December 1st – Mansfield Community Center
December 3rd – Arnold City Hall
